Beggars Lace
I carefully arranged tattered red rags against a background of ecru linen. The natural deterioration of cloth has formed a delicate intricacy of lace work. The humble beauty needed no other embellishment. In art as in life one must look beyond the obvious to find an intangible value.
This collage was born in a pile of weathered clothing found along a roadside, the result of an eviction. This very fact served as my inspiration for Beggars Lace. I am pleased that I was able to create a beautiful object from an ugly action.
