Biography
Emerging as a young painter in the early 1970’s, Dale Weber was invariably drawn to subjects that bore the passage of time with a quiet dignity. Switching from oil to acrylic to pastel to mixed media, he attempted to capture that intangible essence that lies just beneath the surface of a subject. In an attempt to define this elusive nature of the subject, he started to work with 'found objects' wherein the subject became the media itself. He has traveled this path for over fifteen years recycling a variety of discarded materials. His journey continues.
Dale only uses materials that are no longer able to serve their original purpose. For this reason, he prefers the term reinvented rather than recycled. By careful selection and placement, discarded objects enter into dialogues expressing the artist’s views that range from the philosophical to the whimsical. Each assemblage is as unique as the material used.
His artwork offers a new perspective on the importance of everyday life. In his search for the significant hidden within the insignificant, Dale reveals an inner beauty of the mundane. His art is a metaphoric vehicle for the overlooked, abandoned, and forgotten elements within today's society.
He is an award-winner of many juried shows and veteran of solo and invitational exhibits.
